Quick note to our patients:
We at Associated Family Physicians would like to remind our patients that we continue to remain open 7 days a week, to ensure that you are provided with safe access for all your healthcare needs. We have taken every precaution to ensure the safety of our employees and patients, by screening and isolating patients with suspect symptoms in a separate area of the office. Patients who are identified as suspect for COVID-19 are brought into the office through a separate entrance, away from our main lobby. We have also implemented video and telephone visits for patients that are at a higher risk for developing complications associated with COVID-19.
COVID-19 Antibody Serum Testing
Quest Diagnostics has recently released their antibody test for COVID-19, which is extremely accurate in detecting COVID-19 antibodies, with accuracy above 98.5% specificity.
This test is designed for patients who are asymptomatic (without symptoms), patients that had past symptoms associated with COVID-19 (fever, aches, cough, etc.) that have subsided, or who had close exposure to a documented case, at least three weeks ago.
A positive test will confirm that you have had the virus. We do not yet know if this means you are immune although this is the case with many other viral infections.
The test is not designed for general screening and Quest Diagnostics will only be able to accommodate patients who are asymptomatic (without symptoms). Most, but not all, insurances will cover the test. This is a non-fasting test and will be done on an appointment basis at any Quest draw center.
Please let us know if the test should be ordered for you and why you feel you need the testing.
Once an order has been placed by your provider, you may call Quest Diagnostics at 866-MYQUEST (866-697-8378), or online at https://appointment.questdiagnostics.com/patient/confirmation to schedule an appointment at any of their Patient Service Centers (PSC’s) to have your blood drawn.
- Quest Diagnostics is minimizing all chance for exposure and ensuring the safety of our employees and patients.
- Quest Diagnostics is providing testing for asymptomatic patients only (no fevers, no cough, no symptoms).
- Patients are required to wear a mask or face covering in our Patient Services Centers (a bandana or handmade mask is acceptable).
- At some Quest Diagnostic PSC’s, a greeter may be taking no-contact forehead temperatures upon entry or prior to testing.
- Quest Diagnostics will not provide service for suspect active virus or swab collections.
Please note: For patient with active symptoms associated with COVID-19 (fever, aches, cough, etc.) that need swab testing done, please visit https://www.projectbaseline.com/study/covid-19/ to take a quick survey and schedule a drive-through appointment.
Also, the CDC recently updated the list of reported symptoms associated with COVID-19. People with COVID-19 have had a wide range of symptoms reported – ranging from mild symptoms to severe illness.
Please visit the CDC website for more information on symptoms: https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/symptoms-testing/symptoms.html
